I was beaten at a friends house severely and have medical bills, can i sue?

a guy invited me and my gf over for crawwfish last night. A man was haring and attempted to grope my gf more than once. we left, the next night we were invited back to finish the crawfish, and was promised the man was not there. we arrived and as i said hi to the house renter and the man came from the shadows and and grabbed her as he snuck up on her and i turned around due to the fact i saw the others watching behind me. he said something i did not hear to her. then he politely asked me to walk aroung the corner to apologize to me, i told him i had no hurt feelings it was just her i turned to walk away he attacked me and put me in a death choke hold injured wind pipe i ped out briefly went to go and he told her bithc i will kill you to . i was rushed to er many medical procedures done. can i sue renter for setting up for me to be almost killed at his house?
