Should I get an industrial piercing or cartilage and second hole?

Ever since I first saw an industrial piercing, I thought it was awesome. However, I don't think my parents want me to get it. They think it looks "goth" and "tacky" etc. but I don't think so. I could probably convince them otherwise (They ARE my ears, I have the money, I want to be original). Practically everyone I know has cartilage and their second hole, so I wanted to be different and get industrial. Every time I see it I note how it looks on that person and I think it would look good on me. I'm not worried about pain at all, I'll suck it up, but which is more likely to get infected? Also, my parents think I have "cute" ears and don't want me to ruin that, so could I say that it would just enhance it? Please respond about what you feel just generally looks better to help me decide on what to do. :)
